Welcome to Skiing Through the Gap.
This is a site about our one year trip around the world.
We are Brian and Stephanie Ash. Brian retired from London Fire Brigade Officer some years ago to spend his life fishing and in idle isolation. Stephanie decided she should go with him and that we might need some money so she runs an IT business from home to keep him in the style to which he hoped to be come accustomed .
Why the name?
Well. In the modern media parlance skiers are people like us, retired with a bit of money put by, who decide to spend the money not give it to the kids. Spending the Kids Inheritance. And we decided that taking a year out, the Gap year, is not the perogative only of the young, us oldies can do it too. So we are taking a belated Gap year, a gap from work, family and home. We have consulted our three kids. And the kids assured us through fixed grins that they are all fine about it!
